NetApp Uses Martians To Minimize Ad Investment

ad_128

This ad for NetApp is part of a campaign that has been running in various business and computer magazines.

There’s nothing good about this ad. It’s poorly designed and the illustration is terrible.

The copy is replete with jargon, such as:

“So you can manage exponential growth while minimizing your storage investment…”

Translated into English, this means that you can grow your company without having to spend a lot of money on data storage. So why not say it in English, instead of Martian marketing-speak?

The sentence that I referenced above (the complete sentence, not the excerpt) isn’t even a proper sentence. It’s two phrases joined with an em dash.
