In my post of 8/6, I discussed how actors in commercials sometimes portray doctors, mothers, or other people, and make what I call phony endorsements.
This ad pokes fun at the notion of an actor who was a former TV doctor posing as a real doctor to promote a product. Neil Patrick Harris, of course, played a doctor on the show Doogie Howser, M.D.
The headline:
BODY ODOR PROTECTION
RECOMMENDED BY FORMER
TV DOCTORS LIKE ME.- Neil Patrick Harris, EX TV MD
The message is that Pro Strength Old Spice gives you prescription-strength protection without the prescription.
Old Spice has crafted an ad that is not only clever and funny, but creates interest in their product.
